The inspiration for my project appeared when I came across a drawing online for a steampunked version of a Noah's Ark, I thought, " I could make this", and so the process began.

First I started to redraw this animal the way I envisioned it. Each drawing I made added and subtracted from the original idea, till I came to the one that best suited my idea of what this steampunked animal would look like in metal.

Next came the modeling stag for the steampunked animal. I did this out of cardboard till I had captured the form I had drawn on paper. This process also helped me to see if all the many pieces would fit and work together.

My next step in the process was to start making the templates that I would use to cut the many pieces out of metal. This process also came with its own set of problems and hurdles that had to be solved.

Next came the assembly phase which came with another set of challenges to overcome. How do I assemble all these pieces? Do I weld them, braze them and what kind of braze do I use? A lot of questions popped up, all with their own challenges that had to be over come. I finally elected to rivet most of the pieces together, thus adding to the overall steampunked version and style that you see today. This was a very challenging and exciting project for me, but in the end I am quite happy with the outcome. Please enjoy, Witchdoctor out...
