 MEDIATION

Each object presented here reflects the intersection of material and maker, mapping their mutual transformation. The mediation between hand and tool, tool and material facilitates actions that would otherwise be impossible. This physical exchange has an undeniable effect on the viewer or user of the piece. Whether it be the curves on the seat of a chair, the handle on a cup, or the organic curves of a sculptural work, the final result embodies a cultural collision. The way in which these diverse traditions and experiences inform one another creates something fresh and new. The story told by a contemporary craft object connects history with progress, creating new relationships, interactions, and perspectives. If the work is successful it will spark new ideas in the minds of the maker and viewer. It is not an end, but a continuation.
