I love the functionality and beauty of objects. The more function or purposes it has the more I value it. I believe got this from my father who is a self-described “gadget man”. Growing up my father would always buy these tools or objects that had multiple components or roles to them. However they were either poorly made, unappealing looking, or in most cases, both. That be the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, I have a deep admiration for objects that have dual functions but a more refined taste in how the objects look. These elements come through in my work. I believe that pieces should be distinctive but able to work collaboratively as well. I want my works to stand on their own and exuded presents but still be able to enhanced without losing its core beauty or be overpowering. Balance is key and I aim to balance my art in aesthetics and function.
