Living in the northwest all my life has been a guiding force for my personal aesthetic and material choices. Washington State has a vast array of natural beauty from the Puget Sound to the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. When I am in these places they have profound ability to stop time. When I am in the presence of the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean I experience no anger. When I climb to the Lake of Angels in the Olympic mountain range I am unable to worry. And when I am skiing on the snowy caps of the Snoqualmie-Baker National Forest I have no fear.

With all the complexities that modern life imposes on us as individuals living in this world, it is easy and sometimes expected to go through life with blinders on. The repetitiveness in our lives is necessary, but can begin to consume us. In my work I try to break that repetition, and upset that groove, by presenting work that allows for a breath of fresh air, a representation of this natural beauty that has brought me stability.
