These fir forms act as mother molds, guiding the copper into a certain shape. Like daughters, the copper forms have many variations that can arise from the mother mold. We began working together to experiment with how copper and fir could interact. Combined, our pieces represent the constantly shifting balance of collaboration.

Naalbinding is a fiber technique similar to knitting that found its way to the Nordic lands of the Vikings via trade routes from the Ottoman
Empire. It transitioned into a metal technique with the invention of drawn wire in 700 CE. Metal naalbinding was traditionally produced
with silver wire to make small chains or pendants for jewelry. I wanted to explore a larger scale to allow the viewer to observe the process as if the stitches were under a microscope.
