OBJECT / LESSONS
Thinking Through Craft at The Evergreen State College

// Untitled //
Concrete, bronze, steel
18” x 12” x 2”
2016
This work takes common objects out of context to give them new beauty. Playing with the value of materials such as bronze and cardboard, I strive to give the wearer a sense of nobility from trash. I am fascinated with where we place our material value and why. I predominantly make wearable work because I believe it is the best way to engage a cross-cultural community that does not necessarily engage with art galleries. Capitalism is generating socio-economic walls in our world. I aim to break down some of these barriers by creating things that easily travel across borders, both physical and synthetic.
Please wear this piece.
