My work within Thinking Through Craft explores how craft acts on the body as a force; underscoring the absence of the body as proof of its

presence. I’ve found that the most important part of the process of making is my own body: the labor in mimicking material with body. In

this way, the self-conscious testing of boundary becomes as important as any tool. Through the use of pregnant, empty space my work aims to invite the viewer into an intimately vulnerable position within the gallery, if only temporarily, by the use of sensual experience:

mirror-shined reflection, smells connection to memory, the space within a body. The absence of a body, signified by the presence of extremities, is discomforting. The forceful absence of the arms, legs and gut creates a framed blank space, allowing the viewer to situate themself precisely by what they are not.
